Preble Street’s Homeless Voices for Justice program has lost a major funding source from the Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland and the Washington-based Catholic Campaign for Human Development ended their support and financial backing of the program after last falls political issue about Same Sex marriages.
Over $17,000 in funding has been lost this year.
You can support the Homeless Voices program by attending a dinner with Govenor Baldacci on April 14th at 8:00 pm. in the Italian Heritage Center at 40 Westland Ave. Please pay $5 at the door or whatever you can afford.
Homeless Voices for Justice is a grassroots group that works for social change on behalf of people who struggle with homelessness and poverty.
