Why I Don’t Wear my Badge : Micro Lessons on Empathy

I am on sabbatical and had to come into a county building to turn in timesheets.
I had 2 choices, pop on my Badge and breeze past security or keep it in the bag and wait.

I chose to wait.

It is so easy to work in a service position and be angry that appointments came late. it is easy to toss away the resentment and impatience of customers who have been waiting in a line I bypassed and then they had to sit in a room I crossed and escaped from.
